Event. Close Quarters update!
Sorry for the late update! The current state of Great Pines is going to improve (temporarily) thanks to-- let's say good will. The persistent darkness that has been hanging over the town has lifted. Or, well, receded, and receded into the tunnel under Rose Run prison. Any characters exploring the tunnel will hear and possibly feel the groaning of turning wheels, like a vast machine is moving beneath them. As the noise passes, the darkness draws back and takes with it most of the creatures that have been infesting the streets.
It should be noted that some of the monsters can still be encountered in dark alleyways or the unlit closet or two, but for the most part these vicious piranha-rats can be avoided or driven off by turning on the light.
Meanwhile, the sun hasn't quite returned to the town. It seems unusually overcast in Great Pines, but that's better than permanent night, right? Characters can use this time to recuperate and share a victory hug.
They might also check their journals while they are enjoying the calm.
